Smithfield Police Officer Robert Squillante is retiring after 33 years of service.
According to the Police Department’s Facebook page: “Squillante began his police career on August 3, 1993, and became a Field Training Officer. Throughout his career, “Squib” is most notably known for his time in the Community Policing Division as both a D.A.R.E. Officer, as well as a School Resource Officer.”
“Officer Squillante excelled in both positions, and he became the standard of what a Community Police Officer should be, not only at the Smithfield Police Department, but in American policing. If you research Community Policing, there should be a picture of Officer Robert Squillante attached to it.”
“Squib’s impact on the Town of Smithfield and to the Smithfield Police Department will last for generations to come, which we are all grateful for. We thank Officer Robert Squillante for his 33 years of dedicated service and wish him a safe and happy retirement.”
