In the battle of the two unbeatens, Barrington Little League cruised to a 5-1 victory tonight under the lights against Lincoln.
Lincoln jumped out to an early 1-0 in the top of the 2nd courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Jackson Lockhart.
Barrington’s Zak Oppler hit a double to score Lochlan Donaghy in the second half of the inning, bringing the score to 1-1.
In the top of the 3rd, Zak Oppler came in relief. He got a strikeout to get out of a bases loaded jam.
A leadoff walk by Rocco Coppolino and singles by Max Colantonio and Noah Robbins kickstarted the bottom of the 3rd for Barrington. Andrew Knychalski capitalized with runners in scoring position by hitting a single to right field, giving Barrington a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the 4th, Lincoln starting pitcher Ryder Norman came out of the game at 85 pitches. Later in the inning, Barrington’s starting pitcher Matt Montecalvo hit a single to right to extend the Barrington lead to 4-1.
Barrington got one more insurance run in the bottom of the 5th, courtesy of a single to center field by Andrew Knychalski.
Barrington is now 2-0 in the Rhode Island 12U Little League State Tournament, and advance to Wednesday’s championship game.
