The Red Sox are 52-49 and are playing incredible baseball as of late: 21-4 in their last 25 games, highlighted by a 15-game win streak.
The Red Sox looked like they were going to be full blown sellers at the deadline on June 24th when they had the worst record in the American League at 32-46. But now, they are looking to buy. Here are the three Red Sox targets coming into this year’s trade deadline:
Athletics Catcher Shea Langeliers:
Reports have mentioned that the Red Sox love the idea of having Langeliers in a Sox uniform. His pull air percentage of 21.6% makes him a great fit for the monster. Langeliers has this year and two more years until he is a free agent in 2029. His stats this year: .263 average, .830 OPS, 23 home runs, 51 RBIs.
Nationals Shortstop CJ Abrams:
Abrams is a very good power hitting shortstop with subpar defense. Very young at 25, and he is under control until 2029 when he is a unrestrictive free agent. His stats this year: .286 average, .904 OPS, 24 home runs, 76 RBIs
Angels Shortstop Zach Neto:
Another 25 year old young power shortstop. Another great fit for the Fenway Green Monster as he is among the best in the league at pulling the ball in the air with a 28.2 pull air percentage. The bad: Neto has strikeout issues and is a poor defender as he is -8 in outs above average. Has posted a .238 avg, 771 OPS, 19 home runs, 46 RBIs. Under control until 2030.
Craig Breslow will have to give up a large package to acquire any of these players before the MLB trade deadline on August 3rd.
