Lincoln Little League is your Rhode Island Little League representative in Regionals after beating Barrington 2-1 on Saturday, August 1st.
Jackson Lockhart started off the game with a single, and Luca Martinelli laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Lockhart to 2nd. After two wild pitches, the first run was on the board: 1-0 Lincoln.
In the bottom of the first, Lincoln cut down a runner at the plate to keep a 1-0 lead.
Barrington tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd.
In the top of the 5th, Milo Sheridan started the inning off with a single to center field. A ground out and wild pitch brought Sheridan to third with one out – and Hugo Fiero came through in a huge spot and singled to give Lincoln the 2-1 lead.
2 runs was all Lincoln needed with Tucker Choniere on the mound. Choniere, Lincoln’s starting pitcher, went a complete game in only 59 pitches.
A fly out to Adrian Duffney in center field secured the win.
Lincoln is now onto Bristol, Connecticut, where they will compete in Regionals for a chance to represent the Metro Region in Williamsport.
