Initial Thoughts: Providence Beats Maine 83-56

The Good:

Providence allowed only 56 points, beating last years team-best of 64 points allowed to Farleigh Dickinson.

Myles Byrd (7) and Gavin Hightower (5) had 12 combined steals. Two players that will cause havoc all year.

Providence won the field goal attempt category 68-43 – this will be key all year, especially in a Hodgson-offense.

Jacob Bannarbie went a perfect 7-7 from the field, finishing with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds. Quite a debut from the UNLV transfer.

The Nitpicks:

The Friars won by 27, not cover the closing line spread of -31.5. Beating teams by the amount you should matters, especially when trying to build a relationship with Kenpom.

To Keep an Eye On:

Arrinten Page left the game in the first half with injury and did not return. A crucial part of this rotation that is important to future success.
